International visitors to Vietnam increased sharply

In October, Vietnam received 484,000 international arrivals, an increase of more than 12% over the same period last year. In a total of 10 months, international visitors to Vietnam reached over 2,357 million, reaching nearly half of the target set for the whole year.

According to the General Statistics Office, in October, there were 484,400 international visitors to Vietnam, up 12.1% over the previous month and 45.9 times higher than the same period last year.

In the first 10 months of 2022, international visitors to our country reached 2,357 million arrivals, 18.8 times higher than the same period last year but still down 83.7% compared to the same period in 2019, the year there was no Covid-19 epidemic.

Thus, compared with the target set by the National Administration of Tourism for the whole year of 2022, the tourism industry has only achieved nearly half of the plan. According to the calculation of the leader of a travel company, there are only 2 months left of the year (November-December), with the number of tourists expected to receive about 500,000-600,000 arrivals per month, this year, Vietnam is expected to receive about 3.3-3.5 million international visitors.

International visitors to Hanoi are crowded on weekends

In some localities, the number of international visitors increased sharply. In Hanoi, the weekend recorded a sudden increase in the number of foreign tourists, especially in the city center and the old town. There were many 29, 45-seat passenger cars carrying large groups of tourists, instead of sporadic passengers as before.

As a result, in October, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said the city received about 210,760 visitors. Including 10 months, international visitors to Hanoi are estimated at approximately 983,000 arrivals, nearly reaching the set target of 2022 of receiving 1-1.2 million international arrivals.

In Khanh Hoa, according to a report of the provincial Department of Tourism, it is estimated that by the end of October, the whole province will welcome nearly 2.3 million visitors (an increase of nearly 365 percent compared to 2021); in which, nearly 2.1 million domestic tourists, nearly 190,000 international visitors.

Thanks to the increase in the number of both domestic and international tourists, the revenue of the accommodation and catering service industry in the first 10 months of 2022 is estimated at 467.1 trillion VND, up 51.8% over the same period last year, the General Statistics Office reported.

Revenue in 10 months of 2022 compared to the same period last year of some localities as follows: Can Tho increased by 126.1 %; HCMC increased by 110.8%; Dong Nai and Da Nang both increased by 78%; Hanoi increased by 55.3%; Quang Ninh increased by 48.2%.

Tourism revenue in 10 months of 2022 is estimated at 19.7 trillion VND, 3.9 times higher than the same period last year. High revenue recorded in provinces and cities such as Da Nang increased by 741.4%; Can Tho increased by 647.4%; Hanoi increased by 365 percent; Hai Phong increased by 236%; HCMC increased by 173.6 %; Quang Ninh increased by 47.7%.
