Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Ngai Province announced that from April 27th to May 5th, the province will host Quang Ngai Tourism Week along with a series of cultural, sports, and tourism events on Ly Son Island in 2024.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Ngai Province, Quang Ngai Tourism Week will include a variety of activities: a seminar on “Developing rural and community tourism in Quang Ngai Province – opportunities and prospects”; the memorial ceremony for Hoang Sa soldier’s graves and the traditional Tulinh boat race; the expanded Quang Ngai Province Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament; an exhibition of maritime and island cultural heritage; the festival “Every OCOP product tells a story” and the agricultural community tourism space…
Ly Son Island always prepares carefully for sports competitions taking place in the area
The series of cultural, sports, and tourism events on Ly Son Island will take place from May to August 2024, including activities such as the hot air balloon festival “Rise to Ly Son”; artistic kite flying; ocean swimming competition, and Ly Son wild run “Following the ancient footprints”…
In preparation for this event, Quang Ngai Province will leverage activities that have attracted tourists in previous years, especially the ocean swimming competition and the Ly Son wild run.
In May 2023, more than 300 athletes and over 500 accompanying runners participated in the “Ly Son Island Trail” wild run on Ly Son Island, with distances of 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km. Athletes were exhilarated to run past onion and garlic fields, historical sites, Thoi Loi volcano, ancient gates, and the dreamlike coastline of Ly Son Island, promising a return in summer 2024.
On this year’s holiday, Ly Son island will organize a four-spirit boat race
The ocean swimming competition on May 28th, 2023, at Ly Son had nearly 250 participants, including 10 former national swimmers, 10 international athletes, competing in 5 km, 2 km, and 1 km races. Swimming in clear water while admiring the nearly 3 nautical mile-long coral reefs from Big Island to Small Island (Ly Son), and crossing the vast crater formed by million-year-old underwater volcanoes, excited and motivated the athletes to return and conquer the beautiful swim routes of Ly Son Island.
Quang Ngai Tourism Week and the series of cultural, sports, and tourism events on Ly Son Island in 2024 aim to showcase and promote the beauty of the homeland, the nation, and the people of Quang Ngai in general, and Ly Son specifically; contributing to stimulating and attracting tourism, and promoting the socio-economic development of the province in 2024 and the years ahead.
Mr. Ta Cong Chuc, Deputy Director of the Port Management Board and Inland Waterway Port Affairs of Sa Ky Port (Quang Ngai), stated that to serve Tourism Week, the unit has planned to increase the number of ferry trips from Sa Ky Port to Ly Son Island and vice versa to 7-9 trips per day.
