UPS (NYSE: UPS) has launched a new flight connecting Hanoi to UPS’s Worldport global air hub in Louisville, Kentucky, via Hong Kong to boost capacity for businesses in Vietnam connecting to the US.
The new UPS flight operates weekly from Tuesday to Friday, in addition to a current Saturday flight that also ply the Asia-US route. This means UPS customers in the north of Vietnam, particularly in the high-tech and retail industries, can now take advantage of greater flight frequency and air cargo capacity to meet increased demand to capture global trade opportunities.
Customers in Hanoi will also enjoy widened production windows to fulfil orders as UPS extends pickup times across eight areas including Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Dai Tu, Dai Kim, Linh Dam, Bac Linh Dam, Ban Dao Linh Dam and Sai Dong Industrial Zone.
Over in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese businesses will enjoy faster turnaround as urgent shipments picked up by 2 p.m. can be delivered by the next day to key Asian markets including China, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. With this enhancement, business will be better placed to unlock a growing intra-Asia trade potential. Data from an upcoming UPS study suggests Vietnam’s trade with regional markets could grow by over 40 percent from USD 326 billion in 2020 to USD 465 billion in 2030.

The new route between Hanoi and the US will be serviced by a Boeing 747-8, the largest aircraft and most fuel-efficient in the UPS fleet, with a payload of 307,000 pounds. UPS’s global air network features a fleet of almost 600 aircraft delivering to over 220 countries and territories around the world.
