by Asia Insider

Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, Hoi An Ancient Town, and Sa Pa have been named among Southeast Asia’s top 15 travel destinations by Gulf News, a leading English-language daily in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), aimed at inspiring travelers from the Middle East region.

In its curated list, Gulf News highlights destinations across the region known for their natural beauty, cultural richness, and unique experiences. Vietnam stands out as one of the only countries with three featured locations, alongside the Philippines.

Ha Long Bay: Surreal Seascapes and Scenic Cruises

Recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, Ha Long Bay is praised for its “otherworldly seascape” of towering limestone karsts and emerald waters. The publication recommends cruise tours and kayaking as must-do activities to fully appreciate the bay’s serene beauty and geological marvels.

Hoi An: Lantern-Lit Charm and Tailor-Made Traditions

Described as a picturesque riverside town, Hoi An Ancient Town captivates visitors with its vibrant lanterns that illuminate the streets every evening. Gulf News notes the town’s affordable tailor shops, flavorful street food, and well-preserved architecture that blends Asian and French colonial influences. The town is also known for its slow pace and atmospheric allure, making it a favorite for cultural explorers.

Sa Pa: Cultural Tapestry in the Northern Highlands

Sa Pa, the third Vietnamese entry on the list, is lauded for its stunning rice terraces, cool mountain climate, and the rich traditions of ethnic minority communities. Ideal for trekking and cultural discovery, Sa Pa offers panoramic views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, home to Vietnam’s highest peak, Fansipan.
