Swimming and coral reef diving temporarily suspended at multiple locations in Con Dao

To allow the coral reef ecosystem in Con Dao to recover after being bleached, the management board of Con Dao National Park has temporarily suspended swimming and coral viewing activities at certain locations.

According to the Con Dao National Park management board, to enable the natural recovery of the coral reef ecosystem in Con Dao after bleaching, the unit has decided to temporarily suspend swimming and coral viewing activities in some marine conservation areas from July 1 to September 30, 2024.

The locations where swimming and coral viewing activities are temporarily suspended include Con Son Bay (excluding the buffer zone), Hon Trac Lon, Hon Trac Nho, Hon Tai, Hon Tho, Hon Bong Lan, Hon Bay Canh, Hon Cau, Mui Tau Be , Dam Tre, Hon Trung, Bai Ong Cuong, Bai San, Bai Dat Tham, Bai Ban, Bai Ong Dung, Bai Ong Cau, Hon Tre Nho, Hon Tre Lon, Dam Quoc – Hon Ba, and Hon Vung.

Other locations such as Bai Giong Hon Bay Canh, Bai Cat Lon Hon Cau, and the area in front of Hon Tre Lon Ranger Station will still allow swimming and coral viewing activities for tourism purposes.

The Con Dao National Park management board has installed mooring buoys and signal flags to indicate where tourism boats can anchor when organizing swimming and coral viewing activities. It is strictly prohibited to drop anchors on the coral reefs during these activities
