Train tickets for sleeper berths from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations such as Quang Binh, Lao Cai, Nha Trang, and Phan Thiet are almost sold out, even when booked 1-2 weeks in advance.
According to travel agencies, the demand for train travel this summer has increased by 40% compared to the same period last year, with sleeper berth tickets accounting for up to 80% of bookings.
Many trips only have a few sleeper berths left, and groups of five or more cannot book tickets in the same compartment.
One reason many tourists have shifted to train travel during this peak summer season is the high increase in airfare prices.
Amid the shortage of airline tickets, high-quality trains, tourist trains, and heritage connection trains are being strongly promoted by the railway industry. Summer travel by train in 2024 promises to be a worthwhile experience for people.
