Promoting Da Nang Tourism in Malaysia

by Asia Insider

The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Fund, in collaboration with the city’s Department of Tourism, recently organized a program to introduce Da Nang’s tourism offerings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

During the event, representatives from Da Nang showcased the city’s events, festivals, new tourism products, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, golf, beach resorts, and culinary experiences. The program also provided opportunities for Da Nang’s tourism businesses to expand and strengthen business connections with partners in Malaysia.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang’s People’s Committee, stated, “To meet the needs of the Malaysian tourist market, Da Nang has focused on investing in accommodation infrastructure, promoting direct flights, and developing tourism products, services, entertainment, and culinary offerings to enhance the experience for tourists exploring Da Nang. For the MICE and golf market segments, the city has introduced special MICE policies and organized international golf festivals to attract this market.”

Da Nang ranks second among the Top 11 Best Destinations in Asia for 2024, thanks to its strengths in beach resort tourism, a collection of world-renowned hotel brands, unique theme parks, vibrant nightlife, and diverse culinary culture. The city’s connections to world cultural heritage sites and its recognition as Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination further bolster its appeal. The growth in international tourists in Da Nang during the first seven months of 2024, with over 2.4 million international guests staying in hotels and resorts, attests to the destination’s allure.

Malaysia has consistently ranked among the top 10 international markets for Da Nang, with impressive growth. In 2016, only 26,787 Malaysian tourists visited Da Nang, but by 2019, that number had tripled to 88,583. In the first seven months of 2024, there were 75,067 Malaysian visitors to Da Nang, nearly reaching the total for all of 2019.
