by Asia Insider

The Lotus Festival will be held over five days, from July 12, 2024, to July 16, 2024, at the Tay Ho Creative Cultural Space in Tay Ho District, Hanoi.

The Hanoi Lotus Festival is organized to promote and honor the beauty and cultural values of Thang Long Hanoi, the Tay Ho area, and the lotus flower.

The main activities of the 2024 Lotus Festival include the opening ceremony and the introduction of OCOP products associated with the culture of the northern mountainous provinces in 2024. This event will take place from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM on July 12, 2024, with over 5,000 delegates and visitors participating. The program will award prizes for the photo contest “Beauty, Ao Dai, and Lotus” and feature the semi-realistic art program “Story of the Lotus.” The festival organizers encourage attendees to wear Ao Dai with lotus patterns for photos at the “check-in” points in the area to promote and spread the image of Tay Ho Lotus – Hanoi. Visitors can post photos on social media platforms (Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, etc.) with the hashtags #lehoiSenHaNoi2024 and #SenTayHo or submit photos on the official Facebook page of the festival: Lễ hội Sen Hà Nội.

Additionally, the event will introduce OCOP products and regional specialties associated with the culture of the northern mountainous provinces with 100 booths. There will be an experience area for lotus products: lotus flowers, lotus silk, lotus tea, lotus sticky rice, lotus sausage, lotus dishes, lotus decorative products, and lotus handicrafts. It will also showcase representative lotus varieties from regions across the country and some rare lotus varieties from Vietnam and Hanoi.

The festival will highlight the unique values of the lotus tea-making profession and the distinctive features of lotus culture in Vietnamese life. Moreover, the festival aims to strengthen connections in the production, consumption, exchange, and experience sharing of Hanoi’s lotus products with other provinces and cities nationwide; promote and stimulate tourism, and awaken the development potential of local OCOP products.

During the festival, there will be a ceremony to receive the national intangible cultural heritage recognition for the Tay Ho lotus tea-making profession.
