On August 19, Habanos, S.A., the Cuban government-affiliated company responsible for distributing Cuban cigar brands, bestowed the Habanos Lounge title on the angelina restaurant, bar, and whisky lounge at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. This prestigious accolade is reserved exclusively for the world’s top cigar lounges.
According to George Koumendakos, General Manager of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, the establishment boasts a carefully curated collection of premium Habanos Global cigar brands, including legendary names such as Cohiba, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás, and H. Upmann.
“Angelina restaurant, bar, and whisky lounge is the perfect place to savor the unique flavor and aroma of a skillfully hand-rolled Cuban cigar, whether to conclude a New World-style dinner or to enjoy alongside a fine whisky from our elite collection,” said George Koumendakos.

In addition to this prestigious recognition, the 123-year-old hotel was awarded a Five-Star rating by Forbes Travel Guide for the fifth consecutive year earlier this year and was named among the World’s 500 Best Hotels by the renowned American travel magazine Travel + Leisure in May.
The Habanos Lounge award is given to trendy bars that harmoniously combine an exceptional ambiance with premium cigar brands distributed by Habanos, S.A.
Habanos categorizes brands based on various factors, such as product range, distribution, market presence, and visibility at specialized retail outlets, as well as their focus on product communication.
The brands classified under the Habanos Global Brands category include Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás, Hoyo de Monterrey, and H. Upmann. Habanos regards these as the six most iconic brands for cigar aficionados worldwide, according to the company’s official website.
