Airline tickets sold out, passengers increased by 50% this coming holiday

by Asia Insider

More than a week before the holidays of April 30 and May 1, many flight routes, especially those to famous tourist destinations, were sold out.

Information from Vietravel Airlines said that the number of seats on flights to domestic tourist destinations during the holidays of April 30 and May 1 was almost filled.

Accordingly, flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to tourist destinations such as Quy Nhon, Da Nang and Phu Quoc have now reached 80-100% of the seats during the peak season from April 27 to May 3. In particular, the flight routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc are almost “sold out”.

Information from this airline said that it is special for all flights of the day to be full of passengers because in the past there could be a flight full of passengers, but in the opposite direction, it was empty.

Previously, airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, and VietJet Air said they had increased many flights during the holidays of April 30 and May 1.

In which, in the 7 days from April 28 to May 4, Vietnam Airlines and VASCO operated over 2,000 flights with nearly 395,000 seats, up 10% over the same period in 2019, while Pacific Airlines operated more than 270 flights, with nearly 51,000 seats.

The routes connecting the two big cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with famous tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Con Dao… are the routes that attract many passengers to and from. Currently, it is very difficult to find a place, especially the flight route to Phu Quoc.

According to information from the Civil Aviation Administration, it is expected that passenger traffic to airports will be very high during the upcoming holidays of April 30 and May 1. In which, Noi Bai International Airport will welcome about 400 domestic flights with about 75,000 passengers, an increase of 50 flights compared to the recent Hung Kings anniversary.

Meanwhile, the number of international flights to this airport is about more than 100 flights, with about 3,600 passengers per day, but may also be more because the number of visitors is increasing gradually after Vietnam opens.

At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, it is expected that during the peak holidays of April 30 and May 1, it will welcome about 70,000 – 75,000 passengers per day. On some days, the number of visitors may be more.

The number of flights to Phu Quoc international airport is also very crowded. During the holidays of April 30 and May 1 (from April 28 to May 4, 2022), Phu Quoc welcomes 180-190 flights/day, with about 26,960 passengers/day, an increase of 58-68% compared to normal days.

During the last Hung Kings anniversary (from April 8 to April 12, 2022), Phu Quoc was also very busy with 140-150 flights/day and more than 21,000 passengers, an increase of 25 -30% compared to normal days.

Da Nang International Airport is expected to receive 168-180 domestic flights and 16-20 international flights per day. Meanwhile, the number of domestic flights on the occasion of the Hung Kings anniversary was 130-140 domestic flights/day and 8-10 international trips/day.

With Cam Ranh International Airport, the number of flights is expected to be from 63-65 flights/day, equivalent to the number of flights in the last Hung Kings anniversary.

On April 20, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam also issued a written request to ensure air traffic safety during the holidays of April 30 and May 1.
